Updates on 2021 to 2024 strategic planning coming soon
2018 - 2021: The roots of strategic planning at the Boreal Wetland Centre
The Evergreen Learning and Innovation Society and Ducks Unlimited Canada received funding for a three-year project (September 2018 to July 2021) to establish a Wetland Centre at Evergreen Park. The Boreal Wetland Centre will build on the reputation, location and partnerships of the Evergreen Centre and will occur in three phases:
Year 1, Planning: Develop, with involvement from stakeholders, a Strategic Plan for a Wetland Centre at Evergreen Park.
Year 2, Building: Build support and partnerships and initiate site development (e.g., access, fencing, signage).
Year 3, Implementing: Start to implement the Strategic Plan so that activities such as site visits and wetlands training can be carried out at the Boreal Wetland Centre in the third year. Secure financial support for the Boreal Wetland Centre to continue to operate beyond the term of the project.
A focus of the three-year project is to develop a long-term vision and funding model for the Boreal Wetland Centre so that the Centre can continue to be a resource to the community.
April 2019 Boreal Wetland Centre Workshop
On April 24, 2019 DUC and ELIS hosted a one-day workshop at Evergreen Park to share information about the Boreal Wetland Centre project and hear about stakeholder needs and interests. Take a look through the workshop proceedings and presentations to learn about the projects and the next steps for strategic planning.
Strategic planning - what’s next?
Successfully establishing and running the Boreal Wetland Centre requires meaningful engagement from diverse stakeholders through all project stages. The success of the Boreal Wetland Centre depends on the involvement of potential users like you. Leading up to summer 2019 we will be developing a Strategic Plan for the Boreal Wetland Centre. Throughout this process we will be reaching out to user groups to understand their needs and ideas.
The strategic plan will not be a static plan! Beyond summer 2019 we will continue to engage users in the development of the Boreal Wetland Centre.
